The localization and augmented reality (LRA) project is entering its second phase: after demonstrating the interest of using augmented reality in autonomous vehicles, how can we accelerate the adoption of this technology for all vehicles?

This project addresses both the automobile sector with the arrival of autonomous vehicles on today’s roads, and the evolution in IHM technologies to achieve automated driving thereof, and also the railway sector, with changes in localization solutions and the emergence of new sensor technology.

In the first three years, the work accomplished in the railways field led to  the use of data merging and machine learning, thus contributing to compliance with operating safety and system availability constraints.

In the automobile field, the project endeavored to demonstrate that use of augmented reality interfaces enabled drivers better to accept autonomous operating of the vehicle.
