Project description

Experimenting AI within Smart Territories.

Automated mobility will be unavoidable in the smart cities of tomorrow. As such, Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions for the automated and connected vehicle in urban and suburban environments must be tested and experimented as of now. The aim of these tests and assessments are not only to ensure the safety of use of AI but also to enhance its performances and guaranty its reliability.

Launched in 2023 for a duration of four years, the European project CitCom.ai enables the implementation of Testing Experimentation Facilities, also known as TEF.

Within this framework, the LNE, IRT SystemX, University Gustave Eiffel and UTAC have united to offer industrials a subsidized framework which gives access to skills and testing resources. The framework also includes specific technical support in line with each need, with the ability to be aware of existing issues, to define new methods of evaluation and develop new testing approaches.

The CitCom.ai project is funded by the European Union within the framework of the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme (Grant agreement n° 101100728).

Expected results

  • Simulation tests of the digital engineering solution according to adjusted testing scenarios, in order to test the product in multiple environments.
  • Virtual reality tests to assess the features of the product in a given environment.
  • Real-world tests to challenge the innovative solution and check its resistance to physical constraints (mobility, obstacles, etc.).

Implemented skills

  • Data science and AI
  • Human Machine interaction
  • Systems Engineering

Targeted markets

SMEs, very small firms and start-ups established in Europe and who develop innovative solutions in this field:

  • Manufacturers of cameras, on-board captors, mobility systems, driver and passenger monitoring systems, etc.
  • Developers of AI algorithms, databases or building-blocks for automated and connected vehicles.
