Project description

Design and validate a safety system for automating the observation functions of the train driver.

The automation of driver observation functions is a major technological challenge to overcome for the Autonomous Train. This is precisely what is at stake in this multi-partnership project of innovation and research.

Launched in 2019 for a period of 3 years, the DOS project is part of SNCF’s Autonomous Train programme and aims to offer a system for the detection of obstacles and the reading of lineside signals that meets the requirements of the Autonomous Train both in terms of terms of performance and safety.

Expected results

  • Qualify, validate and demonstrate the safety of the overall perception system;
  • Improve the performance of the obstacle detection system, especially in terms of long-range detection (from 150m to 1000m);
  • Move from a demonstrator to a prototype.
